Fashion Business Inc./Microsoft Job Skills Training Program

A Completely Free Job Skills Training Program for the Unemployed 

Classes Currently in Session


Fashion Business Inc., has partnered with Microsoft to launch a first of its kind apparel specific job skills training program, designed to help displaced workers update their computer skills and re-enter the workforce.

Thanks to Microsoft Corporation, this 8 week program is provided completely free to workers who are currently unemployed and seeking full time employment.

Participants will rotate through the following courses for the duration of the 8 week program:   

Microsoft Office 2007 for the Apparel Industry—Attendees will explore the corporate apparel business related functions of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, covering areas such as internal communications, mass mailing and cost/specification sheet creation
Apparel Information Management Systems (AIMS)—Attendees will have the opportunity to earn certification in this widely used apparel management software which serves as the framework for the program.  
Tech Packs Using Microsoft Excel 2007—Attendees will learn how to create apparel tech packs, using the newest interface of Microsoft Excel.  
Accounting for the Apparel Industry using QuickBooks-  Attendees will learn how to setup and maintain a general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

ETP: California Job Skills Training Program

Employment Training Panel is a business and labor supported state agency that assists California employers in strengthening their competitive edge. The agency provides funds to off-set the costs of the job skills training to create high performance workplaces.

Offering training courses for employees of qualified companies on the latest versions of software such as AIMS, Photoshop, Retail Pro, Gerber and Illustrator as well as a variety of sales, management, and marketing courses.

Who is eligible?

ETP funding is available to all for-profit companies within California, especially priority industries such as garment and apparel. If you can agree to the ETP terms and have a state manufacturer's license, your employees or your company may be eligible for 8-100 hours of subsidized training job skills training.

Where?

ETP Classes can take place at your convenience on site or at Fashion Business Inc. located in Downtown Los Angeles

When?

An FBI representative will help you complete your application and you can start your training in as little as 3 weeks

EMPLOYER REQUIREMENTS

- Trainees must complete a minimum of 8 to 24 hours of training (depending on the type of company)

- Trainees must be retained for at least 90 days after the last training date

- Trainees must earn at least $13.51 per hour after training and completion of a 90-day post training employment retention period (health benefits can be included in this wage)
